FAQ
-
We are located at 2303 Kennedy Street in Northeast Minneapolis, near the intersection of Stinson and Broadway.
We recommend entering through the front doors of the building. Take the stairs to the second floor and you can’t miss us!
There is also a side entrance by the loading dock with a freight elevator, please avoid the side entrance for your first visit here - you may get lost.
-
Yes, our building offers FREE, off-street parking in the back lot. If the sign says “Kennedy” you can definitely park there. There is also free street parking surrounding the building on both Kennedy and McKinley streets.
-
We recommend entering through the front doors off of Kennedy Street. (Look for the pink neon Hothouse sign in the window!) Take the stairs to the 2nd floor and you can’t miss us.
If you require assistance with the elevator and are arriving alone, we are happy to help. Please contact us in advance to let us know if you have any accessibility needs.
-
We are open from 10am to 11pm.
Our earliest rental time is 10am and latest rental time is 10pm. The building doors are locked at 10pm promptly. If you have a 10pm rental or are attending a session, please take into account you won’t be able to access the building if you arrive late.
-
There is a manual freight elevator at the loading dock entrance. PLEASE CLOSE BOTH GATES when you’re done operating the elevator, otherwise others in the building will not be able to call it.
If you require assistance with the elevator, we are happy to help. Please contact us in advance to let us know if you have any accessibility needs.
Due to the nature of the building's historical status, it's unfortunately required to meet a lesser standard of accessibility. We are hopeful accessibility for the Kennedy will be improved upon in the near future. -

LOCATION, AMENITIES & BUILDING OPERATIONS

All new clients must create a, account. This adds you to our system and covers all the waivers you need to sign. Once that’s complete, you can register for class on our website, the MINDBODY web portal, or download the MINDBODY app on your phone.
Visit our New Client page for more info on planning your first visit to Hothouse! -
Yes, please! You must check in for class at the main desk, either with the receptionist or on the check-in tablet.
-
We encourage clients to pre-register, as it allows for instructors to plan accordingly. However, we do accept walk-ins! If you walk in, please arrive ahead of time so you don’t miss the beginning of class; registration can take a couple minutes.
-
It’s no thing :) We have classes for beginners, as well as all-levels fitness classes. Check out the schedule and note the class levels under the title.
-
Certainly. It’s about your personal comfort levels and how you want to be challenged. As long as you have some experience in how a dance class works, you’ll feel comfortable in our intermediate/advanced classes.
-
We feel you, it can be intimidating to return to the studio. We’ve worked hard to make Hothouse a welcoming, judgment-free space. Our clients range from brand new movers, to experienced professionals. There is no pressure to be a certain way at Hothouse, we’re all just here to have fun and move together. The best advice we can give is — you have nothing to lose by coming to class and giving it a try.
-
Sessions are community-based gatherings hosted by a Hothouse instructor. Sessions are not a class, they are for freestyle expression and open to all levels. Hothouse offers a variety of Sessions, including Krump, Popping, Hip Hop, Waacking, Litefeet, Vogue, and Womxn’s.
-
Sorry, kids! Hothouse is a space for adults and older teens (minimum age of 16). Please note that many of our classes incorporate music with explicit lyrics, and mature movement. We ask that parents kindly respect our age policy, there aren’t a ton of places in the Twin Cities for adults to dance. It’s very important for us to maintain a space for them.
-
When you register as a client, you agree to our release waiver that states a photo or video of you could possibly be used in promotional materials. However, we completely respect if you do not want to be featured in videos. Simply tell the videographer you want to stay on the side, and they’ll keep you out of frame.
We do not film every class. As much as we love sharing what’s happening in class, we understand video can be distracting. Typically classes are filmed every few months. Sometimes instructors will bring in videographers more frequently for special occasions.
If class is filmed, class lists will receive a link with the video files. Please keep in mind this is a free service being offered to clients; video coverage is not part of the class fee. We ask that clients kindly respect the amount of time it takes for video to go through a post-production process. Do not contact Hothouse or videographers directly after class.
